The Tamar Valley Candle Company started as a hobby. I love scented candles. I love the ambience that they create and the way they can change the whole atmosphere in a room. The way the scent fills the air and lifts your mood. Scent can take you back to a particular time or place. Candles are simple little pieces of luxury that you can add to your everyday.

However, I got frustrated at buying expensive candles that didn’t smell of anything. Then, for Christmas, Iain gifted me a candle-making kit. I decided to give it a try. The initial attempts with that kit were dreadful, and I quickly discovered it was a lot harder than I realised. Nevertheless, that kit served as my entry point, and I became hooked on the process. After several attempts, I crafted my first perfect candle, and just like that, I was a candle maker!

We're Tamzan and Iain, and along with our boys, we live in the gorgeous Tamar Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that spans the border between Devon and Cornwall.

Our love for our home is woven into every aspect of what we do, and it's reflected in our copper-foiled logo, a nod to the valley's rich mining heritage.

Tamzan is the creative force, curating the fragrances, perfecting the candles, and crafting the logo.

Iain is the backbone of our operation, ensuring that tasks are completed and the business runs smoothly behind the scenes.
